The concept
3 Options - Ceramic, Textile & Wood
As part of the project’s strategy, the façade will be defined by a lattice system designed to provide shade, regulate sunlight, and enhance the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
This permeable layer acts as a solar filter, softening daylight, allowing natural ventilation, and creating a dynamic play of shadows throughout the day. At the same time, it contributes to the visual identity of the building and its integration with the landscape.
We propose three different material options for the lattice: ceramics, textile, and wood.
Harmonious blend of cultural know-how.
Ceramics
Dénia’s ceramics heritage is deeply rooted in its history, with local artisans producing handcrafted pieces that reflect the town’s unique identity.
Artisans create unique ceramic items using natural materials, such as ash from muscatel grapevines, to achieve distinctive textures and colors. Their work exemplifies the fusion of traditional techniques with contemporary design, contributing to the region’s reputation for high-quality ceramics.
Inspired by this rich tradition, the first option for our façade is ceramics. Beyond their aesthetic beauty and cultural value, ceramics offer durability, thermal insulation, and low maintenance—making them an ideal material for sustainable architecture. The natural tones and textures also allow the building to blend harmoniously with its Mediterranean surroundings, while paying tribute to the local craft that continues to shape Dénia’s identity.
Where tradition meets technology
Textile
The Valencian Community has a deep-rooted textile tradition that has shaped its economy, culture, and innovation for centuries. Areas like Ontinyent, Alcoy, and Banyeres de Mariola have long been known for their expertise in fabric production —especially wool, cotton, and linen—gaining national and international recognition for both quality and craftsmanship.
Though mass production has since shifted in many places, the heritage lives on—both through cultural institutions like the Textile Museum in Ontinyent and through artisans who still use traditional techniquesnowadays.
Even today, the textile sector in the Valencian Community balances tradition and technology. While global competition has challenged traditional production, the region remains a reference point for textile innovation and quality.
The comfort of innovation
Wood
The Valencian Community also holds a strong tradition in woodcraft that has shaped its architecture, interior design, and artisanal culture for genera- tions. Regions such as La Marina Alta, El Comtat, and parts of Valencia and Castellón have long been home to skilled carpenters and furniture makers, known for their mastery in working with native woods like pine, oak, and olive.
While large-scale production has shifted elsewhere, the wood- working heritage continues through artisan workshops, cultu- ral centers, and a renewed appreciation for handcrafted quality.
The region remains a reference point for excellence in woodwork, where time-honored skills meet innovation. Natural materials, a deep respect for craftsmanship, and a strong connection to place continue to define the wood industry throughout the Valencian Community.

Denia
The heart of the Costa Blanca.
Denia, the heart of the Costa Blanca, is a vibrant city that perfectly blends history, gastronomy, and natural beauty. Dominated by its iconic castle overlooking the Mediterranean, the city stands out for its culinary scene, recognized by UNESCO, and its vast golden beaches that attract all visitors. Protected by the majestic Montgó massif, declared a Natural Park, Denia has roots dating back to a Greek colony, though it was under the Roman Dianium that it achieved city status. This impressive natural setting frames more than twenty kilometers of coastline, from the fine sands of Les Marines to the rocky, crystal-clear coves of Les Rotes. At the foot of the castle, the picturesque fishing district of Baix a la Mar preserves its charm with typical nautical-style houses and a wide range of rice restaurants where the flavor of the sea takes center stage. Denia is not just a destination, but an experience that combines history, the sea, and fine dining, all set against the incomparable backdrop of the Costa Blanca
